All signage can be classified as having at least one of the following functions; to inform, to direct, to identify or to convey instruction (in the form of safety or regulatory information). Wayfinding and Directional Systems
Wayfinding is the merging of information with visuals in a concise, clear and effective way to help facilitate the movement of people within a built environment.
A good wayfinding system should address three main points; where we are, where do we want to go, and how do we get there. To do this a wide a wide variety of tools can be utilized including print, signage and new media. (One important point to note is that, contrary to popular belief, wayfinding is not signage, but rather a larger term which encompasses it.)
The ‘language’ of wayfinding is specific to a site and it’s users and we recognize that. That’s where we come in.
